McLaren considers their W1 a technical masterpiece, boasting its aerocell carbon-fiber monocoque optimized for ground effect aerodynamics and anhedral doors opening onto a cabin featuring fixed seats and pedals which move to accommodate individual drivers, and McLaren’s narrowest A-pillars which ensure excellent forward visibility.
At the core of this car is an all-new twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8, producing 1258 horsepower, and coupled with a 342-hp radial-flux electric motor for an incredible output of 1398hp combined.

Carbon fiber Aerocell monocoque offers optimal ground-effect aerodynamics, contributing significantly to its remarkable grip levels. Gullwing doors open wide for easy access while giving it a distinct F1 profile; adjustable steering and pedals enable drivers to find their perfect driving positions.
McLaren W1 features an adaptive long tail rear wing that continually adapts in response to steering, throttle, and brake inputs from its driver. Four electric motors drive this function up and down in response to steering inputs; DRS and airbrake functions are provided by four of them, working as both DRS and airbrake simultaneously. McLaren’s signature Hydraulic Performance Steering system features an electric motor to reduce weight and enhance efficiency; furthermore it uses a small 1.3kWh battery powering the electric motors while it also boasts a central high-res touchscreen featuring Apple CarPlay compatibility as well as modest storage space behind its seats.

The W1 is an engineering marvel. It boasts pushrod suspension connected to inboard dampers and motorsport-style heave damping in its rear structure, as well as an HVAC system capable of diverting air from engine bay into cabin for conditioning occupants as well as cooling its 390mm front brakes, capable of stopping from 124mph in just 100m.
Two weekend bags will fit comfortably in the four cubic feet of storage behind the seats, which also has room for two crash helmets.
